Bar Stool

Location: TriBeCa Bar & Grill, 144 Park Road, Woodlands

What is it: This is the third Tribeca to open in Glasgow with big plans to open 20 (yes 20) across the UK in the next two years. The original Tribeca restaurants are well loved in Glasgow. The new site takes over The Richmond bar and restaurant on Park Road. Not a lot has been done to the interior, apart from bit of stripping back with some new Americana pictures.

Interesting fact: Tribeca, sometimes written as TriBeCa, is a neighbourhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Its name is an acronym from “Triangle Below Canal Street”. In the 1960s and 70s, artists colonised abandoned warehouses in the former industrial wasteland. These days, six-figure apartment lofts are occupied by the rich and famous, including Robert De Niro.

Verdict: This site has huge potential because of its location. I remember the original Bar Bola which was jumping most nights of the week. The link-up with the guys at Smoak to take over the food offered at all venues is a great combination.

Drink: They have never been known for the quality of their drinks at Tribeca but they want to change that here. Established operator Stephen Heggie has been hired to bring the drink side of things to life, and plans to bring a great craft beer offering to make the experience even more authentic.

Food: A superb selection of American BBQ style food. I can highly recommend the Apple Wood smoked Ayrshire ribs with chipotle glaze, mouths watering just thinking about them priced at £11.95

Price: Good, with regular deals on offer.

Alfresco: A few seats out front on the warmer days.

Children: Kids will love it here, especially the sundaes and pancakes

Perfect for: Meeting up with a group of friends for some of the best comfort food in Scotland.
